Frequently asked questions.
I’d like to begin therapy. What happens next?
I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone call where you’re welcome to ask any questions you may have about beginning therapy. This is a chance for us to see whether we might be a good fit and for you to get a sense of how I work.
If you're happy to move forward, we’ll schedule an initial assessment session. This session (up to 90 minutes and charged at my standard rate) gives us time to explore what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’d like to get out of it, and whether you’re interested in working indoors or in an outdoor setting. It’s also an opportunity for you to reflect on whether you feel comfortable with me—something that’s essential, as the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy.
When working with children or teenagers, I usually recommend an initial assessment with a parent or carer in person. This allows you to speak openly without your child feeling overwhelmed. Following this, I will meet with your child or young person to introduce therapy in a gentle and age-appropriate way. You are welcome to attend all or part of this session if your child would like you to be there. Together, we will begin identifying any goals they may have and ensure they feel safe and supported in the process.
How I Work
We’ll usually meet at the same day and time each week to provide consistency and a sense of structure. Sessions last 50 minutes and are payable in advance.
The number of sessions you might need varies from person to person. I recommend allowing for at least 12 sessions initially. We’ll regularly review how things are going to ensure therapy continues to feel helpful and aligned with your goals.
Confidentiality is central to our work together. I will not share any information about you or what you discuss in therapy unless there are serious safeguarding concerns or I am legally required to do so. All personal information is stored securely in line with professional and legal guidelines.
How much does it cost?
Sessions cost £65 for 50 minutes for indoor and outdoor therapy. I offer a reduced fee for those claiming benefits (please contact me for details).
I also offer 90 minute sessions with the use of a firepit. Please contact me for details and costs.
Please note that outdoor therapy is offered on Thursday and Friday as garden is closed on Saturdays. However, there is a small enclosed outdoor space close to studio that can be used on a Saturday, (subject to availability).
